Foreword By Mohammad Al Duaij, CEO Of Alea Global Group

Hello and welcome to the latest edition of The Alea Journal.

When I first took over at Alea Global Group, I would describe the Gulf Region as something of a diamond in the rough.

I had traveled and studied all over the world, and I was struck by how much my home region had to offer, but that was yet to be realized. Now, however, the whole world is seeing our potential, and that potential is solidifying into real global advantages and economic benefits.

You can read more about the rise of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in this issue, including Saudi’s success in sport – and football in particular. We also look at El Salvador’s new status as the blockchain capital of the world.

In terms of cultural news, there are no two topics bigger right now than the fate of Twitter under the rule of Elon Musk; and the way the Barbie movie has broken out of her box and out of the box office so successfully. We also nod to the 30-year anniversary of one of the world’s best documentary film festivals, Sheffield DocFest in the UK.

The cost of travel has been very unpredictable over the last couple of years, so we take a look at why that might be. And when it comes to travel, we also make the case for visiting Bhutan.

Finally, we pay tribute to Mohamed Al-Fayed, and his remarkable achievements.
